7 Reasons to Eat Watermelon

Melons are just starting to come in season, and I can't wait to dig into all the different varieties available, each with its own fragrant flavor. Together, they're perfect in a fruit salad. We all love watermelon, especially in the hot summertime. There are so many ways to enjoy it. Cool down with a watermelon ice, or a watermelon smoothie to beat the heat. Watermelon is fresh and delicious, and did you know it's actually healthy for you? Here are some healthy reasons to enjoy watermelon this summer.
  1. Improve Cardiovascular Health:

Improve your heart health by eating plenty of this stuff.
  1. Soothe Your Tummy:

Have an upset stomach or heartburn? Eat 5-6 chunks of watermelon (slowly) to sooth the pain.
  1. Reduce Blood Pressure and Improve Circulation:

An amino acid in watermelon can relax arteries, reduce blood pressure and improve your circulation.
  1. Reduce Inflammation:

If you're dealing with any kind of inflammation, eat watermelon to take advantage of its anti-inflammatory properties.
  1. Treat Kidney Stones:

Make watermelon seed tea to help treat kidney stones. Just crush a tablespoon of seeds, steep them in boiling water for a few minutes, then drink.
  1. Treat Acne or Skin Fungi:

Rub the inside of the rind on problem areas on your skin. Watermelon's antibacterial and anti-fungal properties will help you out.

The rich water and fiber content make this a great solution for this problem. Just be sure not to overdo it with the watermelon as that could have the reverse effect.
