Day Spa Tips for Great Summer Skin
Posted: June 29th, 2018
During the long summer months, humidity, heat, and sun can take a toll on the skin. If the season has been wreaking havoc on your skin, there's still time to get your skincare woes under control. By using the right skin care products and taking a few trips to the day spa for facials, you can achieve youthful, glowing skin.
Slather on the Sunscreen
Regardless of the season, you should apply sunscreen to your face every day. This habit becomes especially crucial in the summer, however, when damaging UVA and UVB rays are at their most potent. Opt for a product that contains SPF 30 or higher. If you're planning on spending hours outside in the sun, remember to reapply every two hours, or more frequently if you're pale. If you don't, it could lead to skin damage, premature wrinkles, and even skin cancer.
Exfoliate
Hot temperatures aren't always conducive to healthy skin. Perspiration can clog the pores, which leads to blemishes and breakouts. If summer is exacerbating your acne-prone skin, remember to exfoliate. A good chemical exfoliant—like a product that contains salicylic acid—helps to get rid of the dull, damaged skin cells that clog pores. This leads to healthy, clear skin.
Moisturize
When it's humid outside, you may not want to apply moisturizer to your skin. But you need to moisturize regardless of the season, as keeping the skin hydrated is crucial to overall health. If your regular cream moisturizer feels too heavy, switch to a lighter, gel-based formula.
Head to the Day Spa
When your skin needs some extra assistance, take a trip to your local spa. With the help of an experienced esthetician and a few facials, you can banish blemishes, reduce the appearance of fine lines, and restore moisture to dehydrated skin. Your esthetician can also help you devise a great at-home skin care routine and recommend skin care products appropriate for your skin.
