Detox Cleanses.....What's All the Hype About?

Posted: June 28th, 2017

One of the most recent health and wellness trends is detox cleansing. However, there is a difference between a cleanse and a detox, even though the terms tend to get used interchangeably. The main similarity between the two types of diets is that they are focused on flushing out toxins. The good news it that your body actually does a great job of detoxifying on its own. A detox cleansing can still be helpful if you have been putting too much pressure on your body's detoxifying systems.

What Is A Cleanse?

A cleanse diet involves eliminating junk and then refueling with the type of nutrient-rich food that supports your body's natural detoxification systems. You can either do a short program of a few days to a week or a longer program of about three weeks. Both programs have the goal of jump-starting a healthy eating plan

What Is A Detox?

Detox diets or detox cleansing also eliminate junk from your diet while focusing on foods with strong properties that add to your body's detoxifying process. What these foods usually really do is stimulate bile production to encourage your body to empty out toxins faster and more thoroughly.

Benefits or Dangers?

Be aware of diets that are too restrictive or do not focus on enough nutrient-rich food. Always hydrate regularly when doing either type of diet. It's also important to consult your doctor before starting any new health and wellness plans. The benefits of either diet include the following: - Increased toxin flushing - Changing the way you think about healthy eating - Weight loss - Helping you understand the difference between nutritious and junk food Either diet is a good way to reset your body and start working on a healthy eating plan for life.
