Because their feet absorb a great deal of the impact, most of it, in fact, runners often prefer to maintain callus build-up underneath their heels and toes. And although they may seem unimportant, these forgotten regions can become breeding grounds where bacteria can converge, leading to infection and damaged toenails.  At a day spa, pedicures entail more than just having your nails clipped and filed. Think of it as a full-service oil and lube. A relaxing message and foot soak willhelpincrease circulation, which is especially advantageous for soles that are continuously pounding against concrete or asphalt. And experts know how to look for signs that point to complications such as fungus other unwanted growth. The average person should strive for at least 10,000 steps per day, says the CDC (although most of us rarely come within range of that goal). Obviously, that means the number of steps required for athletes is typically much higher, all the more reason pedicures for runners are so vital.
