Five Most Common Types of French Manicures and Which One is Right for Who
1. Non-traditional Colors and Designs
The French tip style can be done with any combination of colors along with gems, sequins, and painted designs. Nail polish colors for spring can work really well with the French tip style because they provide the traditional soft look with more pizazz. Some examples of nail polish colors for spring are light pink, purple, blue, and green. Non-traditional French manicures are right for those who like the look of French manicures but want to venture out into more fun colors and designs.
2. Shellac Manicure
Shellac manicures consist of a paint that is a combination of gel and nail polish. Shellac cannot lengthen the nails, but they can add increased durability to natural nails. Chipping is significantly reduced with shellac nails, and the damage is less than that of gel and acrylic nails. A shellac manicure is right for those who want to add durability to their nails and have longer lasting colors without needing to add length and damage of gels or acrylics.
3.Gel Manicure
Gel manicures can consist of gel nails or simply gel polish. Gel nails serve the same purpose as acrylics by provider longer, stronger nails. The only difference is they are made of gel and involve the use of a UV light for the application. Gel polish is similar to regular nail polish, except for the use of the UV light, reduced chipping, and instant drying upon completion of the manicure. A common complaint about French manicure is the tips come off too soon. Gel nails or polish will add the longevity to the tip color and the rest of the colors. A gel manicure is right for those who want a polish that last longer, instantly dries, and do not mind slight exposure to UV light and the tedious removal process that may lengthen the trip at the day spa.
4. Acrylic Nails
Acrylic nails are the original fake nails. Some of them come with the French tips already painted on them. Acrylic nails are pre-made nails that are simply glued on, cut, and buffed. Acrylic nails are right for those who want longer and stronger nails without exposure to UV light and the tedious removal process of gel. If you want French tips and acrylic nails, you can save money with acrylic nails that already have the French tips painted on them.
5. Traditional
The traditional spa treatment consists of cutting, filing, cuticle pushing, massage, and application of clear and nude colors over the entire nail and white polish of the tips. The purpose is to imitate and augment the natural coloring of the nail. The traditional spa treatment is for someone who wants a cheap, quick trip to the day spa.
