Young Caucasian woman facial massage If you have never received massage therapy before, you may be wondering how to prepare for it. There are a few things you can do prior to going in that will give you the best results possible. Take a warm shower before coming in. This will help loosen your muscles and promote relaxation. You will also have better results. Most people will take a shower before coming in for a massage. If you are coming from your job or a gym, then please wash your feet and under your arms, especially in the summer months. This will be helpful to remove sweat and any smell. Your massage therapist will appreciate the effort. It probably goes without saying, but do not drink alcohol before a massage. Your massage therapist needs to know what feels good and what is painful. Too many cocktails can dull your senses and you won't get great results. If you have an open wound, as long as it isn't contagious, put a band aid or other bandage covering over it. If you have any non-contagious skin conditions, let your therapist know beforehand. Drink a good amount of water prior to your massage. A deep massage can release toxins from the muscles which can cause nausea or sleepiness afterward. Being well-hydrated will lessen these symptoms. Wear loose-fitting clothing to promote relaxation. Relaxation will start before the massage therapist begins the treatment and being able to get undressed easily helps. Although you will be undressing for the massage, you may feel a bit sore after it. Comfortable clothing will be easier to put on when you are finished. Getting a great result with massage therapy is what we all want. Knowing how to prep beforehand will provide the best outcome possible. Just lay back and enjoy the experience. You will definitely be hooked for more sessions.
