Getting Your Skin Ready for Bed

Posted: November 13th, 2015

Getting your skin ready for bed is just as important as the daytime. Having a good skincare regimen in place is important. You should have skin care products for the whole process. Exfoliating, cleansing, toning and moisturizing should be your nightly routine. Washing your day off your face before bed is invigorating and healthy hygiene.   By not cleansing your face, you are not only foregoing a night of skin renewal, but you are clogging your pores, hanging on to a bunch of damaging free radicals, breaking down collagen, promoting fine lines and aging skin. We are all human and it's ok to do once in a blue moon, but persistently bad pre-sleep skincare routines can lead to early aging, increased acne issues, and long-term damage to your skin.

  • Remove eye makeup with eye remover pads or a little baby oil on a cotton ball.
  • Use facial wipe of your choice depending on your skin type and fragrance preference. You always want to look for products that are hypo-allergenic. If you have a favorite facial cleanse product or soap, that's fine as well.
  • Vitamin E skin cream is great for moisturizing your face after cleansing. Vitamin C is also very helpful. Your favorite toner or serum is your choice.
  • A good exfoliating treatment is helpful a few times per week. Depending on your skin type and need, you might only do this maybe 2-4 times a week. Exfoliating the skin is really a good way to clean pores and dead skin away, while shrinking the appearance of pores. Your skin will feel invigorated and soft.
The day spa can help you develop a personalized skin care treatment designed to help your skin type. If you want a facial spa treatment, this is a great time to ask the technician for help to personalize your skin care regimen.
