Getting Ready for Your First Spa Day
Your first spa day is a new and exciting experience that you want to be prepared for. Luckily, getting ready for the spa is easy: wear the right clothes, take care of yourself beforehand, and let yourself relax and have fun.
Wear Something Comfortable
Most spas will provide you with a towel and a robe to wear between treatments, but you're also welcome to bring your own. Dress in comfortable clothing that you can easily change into and out of. Don't wear any jewelry; you'll be asked to remove it before treatments start. If you have long hair, you may want to bring a hair tie to keep it out of the way.
Pack Your Bag
Consider the activities you've planned for your spa day. If you want to use the pool or hot tub, you'll need to bring a swimsuit. If you're planning on working out at the gym, bring athletic clothes and a pair of gym sneakers. Many spas provide shampoo and lotion but don't forget other small essentials like deodorant or your contact lens case.
Eat Light and Stay Hydrated
The way you feel walking into a spa can have a big impact on your experience. Don't eat a large breakfast, and consider skipping the cup of morning coffee; if you feel heavy, full, or jittery, you won't be able to relax. Drink plenty of water - your skin will be healthier and you won't get light headed in the sauna. It's also a good idea to get plenty of rest the night before.
Call Ahead with Questions
Make sure you book your appointment well in advance and don't be afraid to ask the receptionist if you have any questions or concerns. Every spa is unique and may recommend that you bring (or leave behind) specific items. If you have any special requirements, let staff know before you arrive so that they can be prepared. You should also show up a little early in case you have to fill out a questionnaire.
Ultimately, your spa visit is about getting a chance to relax. Pack your bag the day before so that you don't have to rush on the way in. Once you're at the spa, put all of your worries behind you and focus on enjoying the wonderful experience.
