Increasing Attention with Massage Therapy
Posted: June 19th, 2013
Stress contributes to virtually all illnesses, adversely affecting both physical and mental health. More and more people see doctors for stress-related problems and are prescribed a variety of medications. However, as massage therapy continues to gain credibility and acceptance, both with the public and in medical communities, more physicians include it as a part of holistic treatment plans. An increase in attention is due to massage therapy. Now, some studies link massage with improvements in the classroom, in addition to its other life benefits. People who engage in regular massage, experience and enjoy life more than those who do not. Massage eases body aches and contributes to reducing stress and so, helps individuals better appreciate their lives. Many adults admit that when they feel good and have little or no stress, they deal with problems better. So, treatments that improve the feeling of well-being, treatments like massage, also help with problem-solving. Not surprisingly, this further improves how people feel about their lives. However, adults are not the only ones taking advantage of the benefits of massage therapy. The Family Travel Network notes that venues offering teen spa services are increasing. Facials are one of the more popular spa treatments offered to teens, in addition to manicures, pedicures and massage. Teens, like adults, gain a number of benefits from spas, but the most important may well be improving self-image. Better skin and nails, feeling relaxed, all help improve how teens see themselves. Given this information, it should come as no surprise that massage regimens are being used to combat problems associated with ADD/ADHD. One study indicates "a reduction in hyperactivity and in daydreaming/inattention" in students who received regular massage treatments. The negative side affects associated with ADD/ADHD medications mean that treatments that reduce or eliminate the need for these drugs markedly benefit children who suffer from these diagnoses. Clearly, massage treatments benefit the health of both adults and children. VISIT AND "LIKE" OUR FACEBOOK PAGE!
