It's Time to Get Your Feet Ready For Fall

Posted: August 29th, 2018

Fall follows summers as sure as the sun lights up the sky. Now it is time to place your feet back into fall-season shoes. Summer weather can be rough on the feet, especially for those who love working and playing in sandals, or no shoes at all. Summer usually leaves the feet looking and feeling dry and scratchy for many.

Here are a few tips to get rid of dry skin and ready your feet for the fall

1. There is nothing like a good rub down with lotion. A lot of dry skin can accumulate over time, and rubbing your feet down will help moisten them. Moisturize your feet to get rid of that reptile look.  2. Women should give their nails a break from polishing. Understandably, bare summer feet look attractive when well-groomed. Just know that polishing your feet too much is unhealthy. Too much polishing can cause nails to deteriorate. Or, choose to use lighter shades of polish. However, you should never pass up a good pedicure. 3. It is not a bad idea to exfoliate your feet at least once a week with a foot file. Make sure you only address areas of dry skin. Wet skin is harder to exfoliate. Cracks in the skin will likely open wider as water weakens skin tissue.  4. There is nothing as soothing as a warm foot soak and foot bath, especially in heated water. Soaking your feet helps to reduce stress and might even help you look and feel younger over time. A foot massage offers the same effect. Find a good day spa that you can frequent.  One of the most important things you can do after foot care is to choose the right fall shoes or boots. For women, do not forget that your shoes do not have to be flats. A thicker heel can work well. Support matters and nothing beats healthy living and caring for your mind and body. It is the end of summer. Get ready for the fall.
