Mothers and Their Daughters - Setting a Good Example for Children

One of the best ways to encourage children to maintain a healthy way of living is to follow this type of lifestyle so that children see it from an early age. Mothers can lead through example by following a daily skin care regimen, having a healthy eating plan, and doing occasional treatments like massage therapy or a spa treatment. When children are able to experience the joy that comes from taking care of oneself, they are much more likely to do these things when they're adults.

 

Skin Care

It's important to learn a healthy skin care regimen early to prevent damage to the skin from the sun and other environmental influences. Sunscreen is one of the most important aspects of healthy skin care and it's important that children see their mother applying it every day. Parents can also teach their children the proper amount to use and be sure they know that it needs to be reapplied, especially when swimming or staying outdoors for extended periods of time. Showing kids that taking the time to follow a daily skin care regimen allows them to know it's a priority for living a healthy lifestyle.

Treatments

It can also be fun to take a child to a kid-friendly massage or facial to allow them to see the benefits of these treatments first hand. There are many spa treatment facilities and facial providers that offer specials for mother-daughter spa days. Massage therapy facilities may also offer massage sessions that are intended for parents to share this relaxing experience with their children.

Healthy Eating

Telling children to follow a healthy diet isn't enough. It's important that they see parents eating lots of fruits and vegetables while limiting unhealthy options. Eating healthy foods is also important to skin care as these foods help to promote youthful skin and help to prevent premature aging.
