Everyone experiences stress from time to time, but a lot of people don't know how to handle their stress holistically. Here are a few natural de-stress treatments to help you feel better in no time, ranging from noshing on a favorite snack to booking a day of spa treatments. 1. Go for a short walk to clear your head and increase endorphins. 2. Practice deep breathing. If you don't know any breathing exercises, simply taking a few slow, deep breaths can help the tension to dissipate. 3. Visit a day spa. There's nothing more relaxing than a day of pampering! Find a spa where you can book everything from massage treatments to a manicure and pedicure. 4. Practice visualization. Sit down in a comfortable space, close your eyes and picture a relaxing scene for a few minutes.5. Eat a healthy snack or a small amount of comfort food. There's a big connection between the brain and the gut. Eating a small snack is helpful for your brain if you're in need of nourishment. While you're eating, focus on the food, how it tastes and how it makes you feel. 6. Buy a plant. Have you ever noticed that your favorite spa or massage center has a lot of plants inside? That's because being around plants can help people relax. 7. Turn off the technology. When you're in front of a screen all day, you're at risk for stress, depression and sleep disturbances. Take a break from the computer and your mobile phone frequently throughout the day. When people are stressed, cortisol and other hormones flood the body, which increases heart rate and can cause shortness of breath. While you may not be able to control the things that cause stress, you can learn how to naturally relax yourself and ease the anxiety.
