Prepare Yourself!

A massage can help lower your stress level and promote relaxation. However, if you have never seen a massage therapist before, then you may not know what to expect. There are many things you will need to do before you see your massage therapist. Below is a list of tips for preparing for your
massage:
Be On Time
Massage therapists have a busy schedule, so they appreciate it when their clients show up on time. That is why you will need to arrive at your appointment on time. You should arrive 15 minutes early if possible. This will give you time to fill out any necessary paperwork.
Wear Comfortable Clothing
You will be asked to undress down to your comfort level. If you do not want to remove your clothes, then you will need to wear loose-fitting comfortable clothing.
Do Not Eat Before Your Appointment
Many people believe that eating before getting massage therapy will help promote relaxation. However, your food should be well-digested before your session. That is why you should not eat right before your appointment.
Communicate With Your Massage Therapist
People often use powders, lotions and oils during the session. That is why if you are allergic to anything, then you will need to let your therapist know before getting massage therapy. Some people will also play soft music during the session. If you do not want to hear music, then you should let your therapist know that.
Furthermore, you should give feedback. Let the massage therapy professional know if you would like more or less pressure applied. You should also let the professional know if there are certain areas of your body you would like for him or her to pay more attention to.
