Relaxation Day Celebration!
Posted: August 14th, 2015
In case you haven't heard, August 15
th is National Relaxation Day. So how would you like to celebrate this special day? Treat yourself to Swedish relaxation massage at the day spa. Don't feel guilty, you deserve it. Everyone needs to recharge their batteries every now and then. Daily
relaxation techniques are very important for a healthy mind and body. Take this special day to celebrate "you" by doing something special for yourself.
Everyone enjoys their own form of relaxing. Some find certain activities relaxing, while others feel the only way to relax is lying down. Gardening is popular for those with a green thumb. Many crafts and hobbies are very relaxing, such as, crocheting, knitting, painting, and scrapbooking. Cooking and baking is a great way to unwind and take your mind off whatever is stressing you out. Especially when you can invite friends over to share your food and enjoy good company, then everyone relaxes!
Some Ways to Relax
Take a bath (easy enough). Add some essential oils and light a few candles.
Unplug from technology! Shut the TV, turn off your phone and stay off your computer. Some of you may go through withdrawals, but your mind and body will love you for it and you just might make it a habit.
Treat yourself to a spa day. Give yourself the royal treatment. Have your hair done; get a manicure and pedicure, and a massage.
Indulge in a sweet treat. Enjoy that piece of pie you've been trying to avoid all week. Once a week it's ok to let go and reward yourself.
Read a book. Catch up on your summer reading. Sit outside in your lounge chair and read the latest novel by your favorite author.
Enjoy eating some citrus fruit. Vitamin C helps reduce physical and psychological stress. Even smelling acidic fruit is a stress reducer.
Do an outdoor activity you haven't done in a while, like bike riding, tennis, and hiking, kayaking and fishing.
Relax on the couch and order in food. No cooking tonight. Everyone is on their own because the cook deserves a night off to relax.
Hang out with your BFF. The best de-stressor is hanging out with your best friend and laughing the night away.
