You are not physically fit if you don't have good body posture. Your posture affects your whole body and poor posture results in aches and pains anywhere in your body. But there is some good news. Everyone can avoid problems caused by bad posture and the problem can be improved at any age. Massage therapy is a great way to iron out the kinks and relieve the tightness causing you to slouch.   Good posture is just as important as eating right, exercising and getting a good night's sleep. Your overall health and total body efficiency may be compromised without good posture. Good posture means your bones are properly aligned and your muscles, joints and ligaments can work as nature intended.   The long term effects of poor posture can affect bodily systems – breathing, digestion, elimination, muscles, joints and ligaments. Poor posture often makes you feel tired and unable to move properly. The way you carry yourself may also show a lack of self-confidence.

Benefits of good posture

  • Prevents backache and muscular pain
  • Decreases stress on ligaments holding the joints and spine together
  • Keeps bones and joints in the correct alignment so muscles are used properly
  • Prevents fatigue because muscles are being used more efficiently so the body uses less energy
Feel better about yourself – Good posture makes you feel more self-confident without even doing anything different. Facilitates breathing – Good posture helps you to breathe properly. Yoga and meditation also help with breathing. Improves your image – Good posture makes you look smarter and more attractive. Increases concentration and thinking – Good posture increases your ability to think clearly.   So when your mother told you to stand up straight, she had agoodpoint.
