4 Skincare Essentials for Vacation Travel
There's no better way to unwind and relax than by taking a vacation. Even if it's only for a weekend, you'll return feeling rested and rejuvenated. When packing for your getaway, however, you should include the following products as part of your skin care regimen.
1) Moisturizer
A moisturizing cream or lotion is an essential component of proper skin care. Our skin does a pretty good job at keeping moist by producing natural oils known as sebum. Depending on where you're vacationing, however, the heat, dry air and sunshine may dry out your skin, making it feel rough and leathery. Thankfully, you can protect your skin from this phenomenon by including a moisturizer in your skin care regimen.
2) Sunscreen Lotion
Whether you're traveling to the beach, mountains, countryside or elsewhere, don't forget to bring sunscreen lotion. According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), 20 percent of U.S. adults will develop skin cancer during their lifetime. To reduce your risk of skin cancer and protect against sun damage, apply a high-SPF sunscreen lotion to all exposed areas of your skin.
3) After-Sun Lotion
Let's hope it doesn't happen, but if you develop a sunburn while on vacation, you should treat it with an after-sun lotion. As the name suggests, after-sun lotion is designed to moisturize and soothe the skin
after a burn has already occurred.
Sun damage occurs from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) light, which damages the skin's DNA makeup while creating painful burns in the process. An after-sun lotion contains special ingredients that hydrate the skin and promote healing.
4) Facial Cleanser
Finally, include a facial cleanser as part of your vacation skin care routine. If you wear foundation or other cosmetics, you'll need to remove them before going to bed; otherwise, it will clog your pores. A basic facial cleanser will remove cosmetics, dead skin, oil and other debris from your skin.
