So what can you do when a day in the sun turns into pain and discomfort? Well, it's going to take sometime to heal but there are some remedies that can help us get to feel better.

Healing Sunburn

Aloe vera gel – believe it or not, slathering on some aloe vera gel is very comforting and a cheap solution to relieve sunburn pain. Keeping an aloe plant in your yard can be very beneficial in helping to relieve sunburn pain fast and affordably. Just pull out a leave and snap it in half and let the aloe gel ooze out of the leave to apply directly on your sunburn area. Aloe gel has anti-inflammatory and healing properties that can help calm sunburn skin. You can also purchase aloe vera gel affordably from a store. Cool compresses – Soak a washcloth in cold water, the put it on the affected sunburn area for 10 to 15 minutes every hour. The cool sensation helps take the sting away. But this remedy will not make the burn heal any faster. Soak in an oatmeal bath – an anti-inflammatory oatmeal bath is very helpful. Recipe – spoon 1/3 cup of rolled oats into a cheese cloth or even a coffee filter, and tie into a bundle. Drop it into a hot bath, then let the water cool until lukewarm before stepping in. The last thing you want to do is step into hot steamy water at this point. Hydrate!!! – As your skin heals, the body sends extra fluid to the surface. This can dehydrate you. Drinking plenty of water will help replenish fluids needed. Always carry water bottles with you where ever you may go. Take an anti-inflammatory – Taking an ibuprofen or another pain reliever will relieve the pain and make you feel better while calming inflammation.
