Starting a Skincare Routine - What You Need to Keep in Mind

Posted: April 29th, 2014

Starting a skin care routine can be difficult if you are not sure about what you are doing. Keeping your skin healthy and feeling refreshed is one way to feel confident in your skin. To start preparing for your skin care routine, follow these helpful steps below. 1. You will need to start out by figuring out your skin type. There are different types of skin and each one has products designed specifically for it. Using the wrong skin typed product can cause irritation on your skin or cause it to dry out.   Skin Types: - Oily - Combination - Sensitive - Dry   2. Next, you will want to begin cleaning your face. You should have a good, quality product geared for your skin type. Once you are ready, begin by wetting your face. You will then place a generous amount of your soap into your hands and then lather it on your face. Make sure to rub the soap into your skin using circular motions with your fingertips. When done, rinse off with warm water and pat dry. You should be doing this a minimum of once a day, at the very least. 3. Moisturizing is the next biggest step in your skin care routine. You need a moisturizer to help seal in moisture. If you do not have one, your skin may dry out and then peel. Choose a moisturizer designed for your skin type and then apply it liberally to your face as much as needed. Always rub the moisturizer in the best you can. 4. Whenever you are going out into the sun, apply sunscreen to your face. This will help keep your skin protected from the sun and also from drying out. Depending on the shade of your skin and your tolerance to the sun, you should use a minimum of SPF 15.   Tips Always remember to remove your makeup before you go to bed. Leaving makeup on will clog your pores and cause acne to form. It is important to wash your face once a day but more ideal if you do it two times a day. This will help keep your face free from debris and clogged pores. When choosing your makeup, pick brands that are designed for your skin and that do not contain harsh chemicals. These chemicals can damage your skin.   Your Routine Adding the above four steps into your routine is needed and will help you care for your face. Consider getting a facial at your local spa to help combat any acne you have. Your face will be left looking young, smooth, and radiant after a facial and while following the above steps.
