Summer Skin Care
Posted: August 8th, 2014
Overexposure to the sun can lead to signs associated with aging including wrinkles, freckles, skin thinning and sunspots. In addition, ninety-percent of wrinkles are caused by the sun. A proper summer skin care regimen is important if you want your skin to stay soft supple and healthy. As you prepare to expose more skin, follow the tips listed below and you will look great.
Hydrate
You should drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water daily. This helps your body and skin maintain a critical moisture balance.
Exfoliate
Exfoliation removes dead skin and prevents congestion in your pores. The best time to do it is in the morning and then apply a moisturizer.
Apply sunscreen
Apply sunscreen at least fifteen minutes before you go outside. Make sure you do not miss areas that are hard to reach. Remember to reapply it at least every couple of hours.
Use toner
Keep your pores closed and skin cool by using a non-alcohol based facial toner. It can refresh, restore, repair and hydrate the surface of your skin. An added bonus is it kills bacteria that cause acne and blemishes.
Use lip balm
Lips can burn from extended exposure to the sun. Lip balm provides sun protection and prevents cracked, peeling and scaly lips.
Use antioxidant products
These products help reverse sun damage. Look for ingredients that contain vitamin A and vitamin E.
Summer is a time when you wear shorts, tank tops, sandal and bathing suits. Your skin is exposed to the sun and other elements that can cause damage. Make sure you take preventative measures to avoid problems with your complexion. Sunscreen, a moisturizer, an exfoliator and other skin care products can protect your skin and keep it looking amazing.
