The Benefits of Paraffin Wax
Posted: June 2nd, 2017
Paraffin wax is often used as a treatment to help soften skin for a spa treatment at a day spa, manicure or a pedicure. A soft solid made out of petroleum that melts into wax at high temperatures, it is often used to soften skin, heal dry or cracked areas, and many other skin treatments. For cracked heels and dry hands, paraffin wax is one of the most popular treatments. Cracked heels can be healed by coating the area with layers of melted wax. This will trap your body heat and promote blood circulation which will soften the skin. Along with this, the trapped heat will increase moisture under the layers of wax which will help prevent cracked heels in the future due to moisture loss of your skin. Dry hands can be healed in the same way as well, but the wax will also soften callouses which can cause dryness in your hands. In addition to the many at home uses, paraffin wax is commonly used at professional day spas or spa treatment facilities. Used mainly as a starting point for many skin treatments, the wax will be applied, a plastic bag wrapped around it and a hot towel placed around the bag. This will accelerate and strengthen the healing properties of the wax, making it ideal for professional skin procedures. This method is also used in many manicure or pedicure salons where they will dip the nails in a small layer of wax and leave it on for a bit in order to soften the nail and cuticle areas. Compared to many other skin treatments, a paraffin treatment is cost effective and offers easy treatment for dryness, cracked skin, and softening skin for other procedures.
