The Benefits Of Using Essential Oils For Menopause

Posted: October 3rd, 2018

Menopause is a major life change for women. Although many women look forward to the ending of their menstrual cycle, this change can bring unpleasant symptoms. That is why more women are turning to essential oils to get relief. There are several ways that people can benefit from using an essential oil.

Relief From Hot Flashes

Peppermint oil is one of the most popular essential oils. It can alleviate hot flashes. All you have to do is put a few drops on a tissue and breathe in the scent. This is a form of aromatherapy.  You can also use peppermint oil to alleviate cramping. You will likely not have cramping after your periods have stopped. However, you may have cramping during perimenopause. This is the transition period before menopause.

Relaxation

Many women struggle to sleep at night because of the symptoms that they experience. You can get better sleep by using lavender oil. You should put a couple of drops on a cold compress and apply it to your skin before you go to bed. Lavender oil can also be used to help you relax and unwind.

Balance Hormones

The unpleasant symptoms that you experience during menopause are often caused by imbalanced hormones. Geranium can help alleviate symptoms by balancing hormones.

Basil

Basil is an essential oil that is often used during massage therapy. A licensed massage therapist may use basil to help boost estrogen levels in menopausal women. If the hormones are balanced, then a woman's mood will improve.

Citrus

Citrus oil is also used in aromatherapy. Citrus oil helps decrease inflammation. A 2014 study showed that women who used citrus oil had fewer menopausal symptoms. Additionally, citrus oil can lower blood pressure.
