Uses of Thyme Essential Oil

Thyme essential oil is an incredibly useful oil that provides a host of benefits. From improved circulation to antibacterial and antifungal properties, thyme is one of the most useful essential oils to have on hand.

Thyme essential oil is most commonly used to aid in bettering a variety of health and bodily problems. This oil is able to reduce the appearance of scars all over the body. Simply rub some thyme oil plus a carrier oil (like coconut) over the scar for a few weeks and watch as the scar slowly becomes less and less noticeable. Another use of thyme oil is its ability to boost immune system function. Its antioxidant properties help the body defend itself against so-called "free radicals" and aid the immune system. In order to get this benefit, just diffuse the oil or even rub it into the skin with a carrier oil.

Speaking of diffusing, thyme is a great oil to diffuse for aromatherapy purposes. When sprayed out into the air, its fresh scent can help to alleviate stress and anxiety, boost happiness and self-confidence, and, of course, freshen up a room. Thyme oil can also be added into a bath or mixed with a carrier oil and rubbed into the skin in order to receive the same aromatherapeutic benefits. When thyme is diffused, its diuretic properties aid the body in removing toxins by increasing urination, and it can also help reduce gas and bloating.

Clearly, thyme is an incredibly versatile essential oil with so many benefits. Whether it is being diffused to improve self-confidence, or being rubbed into the skin to improve respiratory function, thyme is a great oil to keep in the arsenal.
