Isn't it nice to know that something we like to drink can really be good for you? Red wine lovers – YES this info is great news for you! So not only is a day spa massage healthy for your relaxation, now we know there are benefits of red wine too. If you are someone with high blood pressure, red wine lowers blood pressure. For all you weight conscious warriors out there, red wine burns fat! I'm sure they expect you to drink in moderation for that benefit. 

Benefits of Red Wine

Heart Disease and Stroke risk is lowered – The tannins containing procyanidins are known for protecting against heart disease. Resveratrol also helps to remove chemicals responsible for causing blood clots, which is the primary cause of coronary disease. A daily dose of red wine cuts blood clot-related stroke rates by 50 percent.   Cancer Treatment - Another active antioxidant in red wine known as quercetin works against cancer cells, according to theAmerican Cancer Society.It helps to induce natural cell death in certain types of cancers, most often colon cancer.   Memory Protection against Alzheimer's disease – Resveratrol is a powerful antioxidant which protects against cell damage and prevents are related mental decline.   Promotes Long Life - Resveratrol is the polyphenol that could be responsible for its longevity benefits. Red wine drinkers have a lower mortality rate than beer and vodka drinkers. A diet rich in polyphenol protects against developing chronic diseases.   Exercise Time – Resveratrol has heart healthy benefits, like improved physical performance and muscle strength. Everything is in moderation though, so don't see this as a good reason to go overboard drinking red wine.   You can also gain the same benefits by eating red grapes!
