Waxing or Sugaring...Which Is Right For Me?

Posted: February 5th, 2015

Waxing or sugaring? That is the question! Let's face it, waxing is not for everybody. How many times have you seen it done in the movies and television? Yes, it is painful and there is soreness after the procedure. A professional technician along with lotions and creams will aid your discomfort, but let's be real.....it's still ripping the hair out of your skin. I'm not a fan of waxing. I've tried a few different procedures and it just is not for me. I know - tell us how you really feel, right? I would much rather go along with sugaring. It even sounds more pleasant.  What is sugaring? Sugaring was a very popular ancient art of hair removal done thousands of years ago in Egypt, Greece and Mesopotamia. Ancient arts rediscovered are often found to be the most effective methods, as is the case with sugaring. Since it is considered an art, it takes practice to be perfect. Most licensed estheticians are trained sugarist artists.   There is a healthy difference between sugaring and waxing. Sugaring paste is all natural. The only ingredients are sugar, water and lemon. Easy enough right? It is also edible and delicious, making it a wonderful skin care regimen for healthy skin. Imagine the clean fresh scent used for facial hair removal too. No harsh chemical smell to make you choke.   Waxing products used for waxing legs and full bodies are made from resins and are not bio-degradable. Waxing also creates more waste from applications that end up in landfills. Waxing uses wood sticks and pellon strips accumulating more wasted materials.   Waxing requires hot wax which done improperly risks burning sensitive skin.Sugaring is done at body temperature. There's no need for heat. Sugaring treatment adheres to the hair, not the skin, and lubricates the root for easier removal from the follicle. Combined with the hair removal in the natural direction of growth, sugaring means a much less damaging experience for you. I'm sold on sugaring!

Sugar pluses.....

Sugaring will help eliminate ingrown hairs, prevent new ingrown hairs, extract all hair colors and textures, successfully treat all skin types and colors while improving skin tone and texture. Sugaring will not burn the skin, damage the dermal cells, scar the follicle mouth or surrounding area, or promote cross contamination.
