Many people have sensitive skin. In fact, it is estimated that 44.6 percent of people have skin that is either sensitive or very sensitive. This means that nearly half of the people you work with will have sensitive skin. You will have to take a number of steps while waxing in order to protect clients whose skin is sensitive. There are also different skin types. Furthermore, you will have to be able to distinguish between skin that is sensitive and skin that should not be waxed. If a person has certain skin conditions, then they should not get their skin waxed. It is important to ask the right questions. Do you have eczema? Is your skin flaky? What type of skin care products do you use? Are you using any prescription medications? Those are examples of some of the questions that you will need to ask. These questions will tell you whether you should proceed with caution or avoid doing the treatment.

What is Sensitive Skin?

This is a term. It is not a specific health condition. It simply means that the skin is over-sensitized or over-reactive. If the skin is sensitive, then it is easily irritated. A person may suffer itching, inflammation, redness and stinging after getting day spa treatments. There are some people who have skin that is sensitive, but they do not show any signs of it. That is why it is important for an esthetician to be able to identify the signs and ask the right questions. This will ensure that your client gets the best results. It will also ensure that your client does not have a negative reaction to the treatment that you are giving them.
