Were You a Sun Goddess Last Summer?

Being out in the sun during the summer is one of the true joys of the season -- whether you are bringing your family to the beach, taking a kayak excursion through the mountains, or gardening out in the yard, sun exposure is an enjoyable (but unavoidable!) aspect of the summer months.   Although most people think of gradual skin changes as being a natural consequence of growing older, the reality is that many of the changes our skin undergoes are a direct result of the sun's rays. The ultraviolet portion of sunlight damages the elastin fibers throughout our bodies and turns healthy skin into sun damaged skin. Sun damaged skin loses its ability to stretch and return to the status quo -- instead, it simply sags or droops where it once stretched elastically.  As you grow older and ripen into middle age, it is incredibly important to devote energy to skin care. Maintaining a daily skin care regimen can help restore skin that has been damaged in sunlight or burned one too many times. Skin care regimens can also help decrease the incidence of skin cancer and other common epidermal diseases.   An essential part of any daily skin care regimen is the regular use of a multi-vitamin facial treatment. Multi-vitamin facials help restore skin cells by counteracting many of the pernicious effects of the sun's rays. These facials often use hydroxy acid exfoliation techniques to revitalize and replenish damaged skin cells, and the treatment can simultaneously open the pores on your face, de-grease and improve your complexion, and rejuvenate elastin fibers.   Even for men and women of a certain age, healthy skin does not have to be a pipe dream. Proper skin care and adherence to a detailed regimen can take years off of your face and send you right back into the summer sun -- wrinkle-free and loving life.
