What are the Benefits of Laser Resurfacing

Laser resurfacing is a skin care treatment that treats fine lines, wrinkles, scars, and many other skin irregularities by removing the surface layers of damaged skin. Two types of lasers are used in this treatment; CO2 lasers, which use short-pulsed light beams, and Erbium lasers which emit light that is partially absorbed by water on the skin. Both are used to remove the cells damaged at surface level, but you will need to discuss with your doctor which is more beneficial for you, based on the symptoms you are looking to have treated. This method is much more effective than skin care products that claim to produce the same results. Laser resurfacing often produces permanent results-- this means you can say goodbye to the endless skin care products that promise to get rid of your wrinkles, fine lines, dark spots, or acne scars, but never do. After this procedure, your skin care routine will be minimal; only regular face washing will be necessary, along with a regular application of sunscreen. This is also an outpatient procedure, which means no need to take time out of work or life, and it has a short recovery time (about 10-21 days), with easy aftercare. Another benefit is the cost; while costs vary depending on location and the professional who is performing the procedure, it is relatively inexpensive, especially considering the amount of money you would be spending on skin care products otherwise. It is sometimes even covered, or partially covered, by insurance if it is considered a medical necessity; contact your insurance company to find out if you will be covered for this procedure. Talk to your doctor to find out if you are a good candidate for this extremely beneficial procedure.
