What to Expect After a Massage

Massage therapy is an excellent resource for healthy living and a way to help release tension and ease stress. It is an incredible way to restore and revitalize both the mind and body. It can also have an improvement in sleep habits and other areas of your life and is highly recommended. Here are some things you can expect afterward.   Your body may be sore, especially if you had a deep tissue massage. Massagecan be a passive form of exercise. Those who don't exercise often or who aren't used to this kind of bodywork may experience more stiffness and soreness afterward because the muscles aren't used to being stimulated. This is normal and should subside after a day or two. Take a warm bath if necessary to help aid in restoration and detoxification.
  You will most likely feel very relaxed afterward. You should plan very little in the way of activity so you can take the necessary time to rest and relax. Give your body the time it needs to restore itself. Massage works the mind too by promoting relaxation and reducing stress so avoid stimulating activities.   You may experience emotions that you weren't expecting. This is normal as well. Some people will feel sad while others may feel uplifted and revitalized. Both feelings are normal and are the minds way of getting a release. Don't suppress these emotions, let them come and you will feel better afterward.   Massage therapy should become a regular practice as a means to improve sleep habits, reduce stress, and promote healthy living. Just one massage a month will have a positive impact on your life. Research has found that it improves you on a psychological, physiological and physical level.
