Essential oils have become very popular over the past several years. People have become increasingly aware of the many benefits of the oils. There are multiple companies that produce and sell a wide variety of oils, and they are promoted as effective treatments for inflammation, stress, respiratory problems, relief of muscle aches and pains and various other uses. It seems the power of plants is effective in healing or treating maladies from headaches to aching joints.   People who purchase essential oils whether from online companies or brick and mortar stores should be aware that not all oils are created equal. Some things to look for are oils that are sold in dark-colored glass bottles since light can diminish how effective the product is. Since the oils are not subject to standardization, it is important for customers to do some research on how they are produced. In addition, the cost can be an indicator of the quality of the oil.  There are some essential oils that seem to be highly effective and are recognized by most people. Lavender is not only a lovely scent but also is effective at relaxation and promoting sleep. The popular oil is often used in spa treatments as one of the oils used often in a day spa. Rosemary is a herb that is regularly used to add flavor to recipes, and it shows some promise in helping seniors improve their memory. Tea tree oil is included in the ingredient list of cosmetics since it both anti-microbial and antibiotic. There are also indications that it can be used to treat nail fungus since it does have anti-fungal qualities. It is important to note that most oils should be used with a carrier oil since they are too strong to apply directly to the skin.
