Shaving is a part of many people's daily skin care regimen. However, shaving every day can be a tedious process. If you want to stop shaving and save time on your skin care regimen, then you may want to consider professional hair removal. However, in order to get the most out of hair removal, there are some things that you will need to avoid doing before and after. Below is a list of things you should avoid before and after hair removal:

Before

You may need to make a few changes in your skin care regimen before getting hair removal. You should not use prescription or over-the-counter retinoids at least one week before you get hair removal. Even though retinoid-containing products are a part of many people's daily skin care regimen, they can make your skin more sensitive. That is why many people also do not use retinoids before they get a facial. Women should not get hair removal during their periods. The skin is more sensitive during your period, which can make your treatment more painful.

After

There are a number of things that you will have to do after getting hair removal in order to promote healthy skin. You should avoid using public pools, hot tubs and saunas for at least 24 hours after leaving the day spa. This will allow the skin to heal and prevent infection. You may also want to avoid exercise for 24 hours after your spa treatment. Exercising can cause heavy perspiration, which may irritate your skin. It is a good idea to take showers instead of baths for a few days after your spa treatment. Do not exfoliate for 24 hours after leaving the day spa. Exfoliation is essential for healthy skin, but it can irritate your skin if you just received hair removal. Additionally, you should not drink caffeinated or alcoholic beverages for a few hours after getting hair removal or a facial. Those beverages can make the skin more sensitive.
