What's All the Hype about Organic Skin Care?

Posted: June 3rd, 2019

Products made with organic ingredients couldn't be more popular. Recent data shows that the market for just about everything that's all-natural is booming. Skin care products made from plants, herbs, and other healthy sources are attracting customers like never before. Take a look at the labels on the potions your esthetician applies to your hands and face. They make you feel so new and clean, so you think of all the pros, but there are some cons. Let's look at the pros first though.    Organic skin care products don't contain chemicals that end up in rivers and streams. Using organic skin care is a short way to avoid carcinogens. Animal testing isn't a part of the production process of organic skin care products either. You can't dismiss the common sense reasons just stated. They're good reasons to keep a skin regimen at the day spa simple and natural, but there's a downside. Just because the creams and skin cleansers you use are organic, doesn't necessarily mean they're good for you.    The lowdown on ingredients that come from nature is that they're a lot more complex than they seem. Some herbs can be hazardous to your health if taken long-term or in large doses. Even though skincare isn't ingested, topical applications gradually seep into your bloodstream over time. Ingredients derived from the earth can get contaminated quickly or go bad because they don't contain synthetic substances that would preserve them. Peppermint oil can cause rashes. Witch Hazel can irritate your face and do more harm than good.   It's always recommended to ask to see the label of anything put on your skin during spa treatments. Ask questions and do the research necessary to be sure that you're comfortable with the organic skin care you receive. Highly qualified spa professionals should be able to address your concerns.
