Working Out and Your Face

Posted: July 17th, 2015

Everyone has very busy lifestyles these days. Just trying to squeeze in some exercise on a lunch hour is hard to do. A good skin care regimen is always very important, especially if you are active. It's just good basic hygiene to take care of your skin. If you've never experienced a day spa facial, you should really try it. It's a great way to relax and have a professional technician show you the best skincare products and the type of facial you need for your skin type   After a good workout I can't wait to hit the shower. I can't stand the sweat on my face and the oils getting into my pores. We try to work out to stay healthy and active. Whether you are doing vigorous cardio routines, Yoga, Zumba, weight training, jogging or even walking, you work up a sweat! Sweating is very healthy. But that sweat also leaves dirt and germs in your pores.  Wash your face before you workout, otherwise the bacteria and dead skin combined on your face will clog your pores. Don't be embarrassed. We all have it. After your workout it's very important to wash your face immediately. You don't want to leave the gym or yoga studio with all that sweat, dirt and oil clinging to your skin clogging your pores and affecting its PH balance. Always carry cleansing facial wipes and other skin care products with you, especially if you are outdoors without running water nearby.

Tips for After Gym Skin Care

  • Work out without makeup. You're going to sweat. You don't want that getting into your eyes and pores.
  • Skip the tanning bed. They are just bad for you all the way around. Keep away.
  • Be gentle (shampoo and cleanser). Don't scrub your skin hard.
  • Skip the hot water. You don't want to strip your skin of vital oils while soothing your muscles.
  • Use the right products. Pack a face wash and moisturizer in your gym bag.
  • Re-hydrate your skin right after your shower with facial moisturizer and body lotion.
  • Re-hydrate your body. Don't forget to rehydrate your body. Water is the best recovery drink.
  • Protect your skin from the elements. Use sun protection and lip balm
