Your Work Out and Your Face

A trip to a spa or a day spa gives the visitor plenty of time to rest or work out. But even as the body is pampered, the skin that covers it can be surprisingly neglected. The sweat and dirt that are produced during exercise make it especially important to not neglect skin care. Here are some things to do to emerge from that trip to the spa with both a firm body and glowing, healthy skin: · Wash your face before a workout. Use skin care products such as wipes or a cleaning brush to make sure the skin is as clean as possible. · Put on a moisturizing sunscreen with a sun protection factor of at least 15. Sunscreens that contain zinc are ideal, for zinc keeps the skin tone even and avoids inflammation.· Clean off any day spa equipment before use with antibacterial wipes. · Don't touch your face with bare hands. Blot it dry with cotton balls with skin care products likefacial toners. Also, be careful to wash hands after exercising. · Take off clothes right away after exercising. Grime and toxins sweated out by the body shouldn't be allowed to linger on the skin for too long. · Don't use harsh chemicals during post-workout facials. Even regular soap can be too hard on the skin. Use glycerine soap, mild moisturizers and gentle herbs such as aloe vera and hibiscus during facials. · Drink lots of water to keep hydrated. Start drinking before the workout, during the workout and after the workout. · Use a clean washcloth or sponge in the shower. Avoid things like luffa's, which harbor bacteria and are hard to wash in the washing machine. Following this skin care advice avoids breakouts and damage to the skin during an otherwise fun spa weekend.
